Who Else Wants To Understand Individual Freedom?

Who Else Wants To Understand Individual Freedom?

Want to Understand Individual Freedom?

Did you know this about Tolstoy, the creator of “War And Peace”, “Anna Karenina”, “The Death of Ivan Ilyitch”,  “The Kingdom of God Is Within You” and many other great reading gifts to our worlds.?

I stumbled upon this reference to Tolstoy and Christian-anarchism. I didn't know there was such a thing as Christian-anarchism, did you?

That lead me to the philosophy of servant leadership. I never heard of that either.

They illustrate and further the philosophy of Individual Freedom and it's manifold blessings.

(See Videos Below)

Note #1: When I use the word “Freedom” I mean “Individual Freedom” (IF).”Individual Freedom” is created when we no longer use threats of force and violence to make others follow our wishes.

“IF” does not mean equal outcomes. It means Freedom from Force & Violence that ruling elites use to build their own dreams and schemes by sacrificing others.

“Individual Freedom” means we must protect the freedoms of others to:

  • Say “No!”,
  • “Innovate”,
  • “Compete”,
  • “Freedom to Think and Speak, Write And Share What We Think”, whether these actions make a profit or not,
  • Whether or not our thinking (questions, speculations, and answers)  contradict or deny established politics, religions, scholars, or skeptics.

I hope you enjoy exploring this as I am. There are many different paths that lead to the decision to allow others to lead their lives without me or you attempting to rule them.

Yeah. I know. We always justify our actions by telling ourselves, it's for their own good. And “It's for their own good” is the source of Inquisitions, Torture, and Tyranny. Let's grow up, as Tolstoy did, and forsake force as a means of sharing our ideas and desires.

Note #2: Most of the time; before I post something I review the video or read the book first… Other times, I am exploring and share what I am exploring with you. I have not finished reading all of these books, but I have downloaded them. And I will watch the videos while eating or in dedicated watch, think, & write times.

Leo Tolstoy (1828 – 1910) Tolstoy was born in a privileged aristocratic family. He served as an army officer and incurred large gambling debts. He came to reject his privileged lifestyle, freeing his own serfs and embracing pacifism and Christian-anarchism.

From Wikipedia

Christian anarchism is a movement in political theology that claims anarchism is inherent in Christianity and the Gospels.[1][2]

It is grounded in the belief that there is only one source of authority to which Christians are ultimately answerable, the authority of God as embodied in the teachings of Jesus, and thus rejects the idea that human governments have ultimate authority over human societies.

Christian anarchists denounce the state as they claim it is violent, deceitful and, when glorified, idolatrous.[3][4]

Christian anarchists hold that the proper relationship between God and people is the “Reign of God” in which human relationships would be characterized by divided authority, servant leadership, and universal compassion rather than the hierarchical, authoritarian structures normally attributed to religion.[5]

More than any other Bible source, the Sermon on the Mount is used as the basis for Christian anarchism.[6]

Most Christian anarchists are pacifists and reject the use of violence, such as war.[3]

Leo Tolstoy's The Kingdom of God Is Within You is often regarded as a key text for modern Christian anarchism.[3][7]

The servant-leader is servant first… It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first, perhaps because of the need to assuage an unusual power drive or to acquire material possessions…The leader-first and the servant-first are two extreme types. Between them there are shadings and blends that are part of the infinite variety of human nature.”

Robert K. Greenleaf in 1970 with the publication of his classic essay, The Servant as Leader

Servant Leadership is both timely and timeless. The practice of servant leadership can be found in all cultures, nations, and religions and is finding expression in our contemporary institutions. All of us can practice servant leadership because we all serve. The positive power of servant leadership is expressed every day through our words, our presence and our commitment to the common good.

Thomas Thibodeau is a distinguished professor of servant leadership at Viterbo University and is a 33 year veteran of the Viterbo faculty. The Master's degree in Servant Leadership at Viterbo is the only Master's degree of its kind in the country. Tom is a husband, father, grandfather, teacher and founding member of the Place of Grace.
